Understanding Multi-Layered QRs with QRLayer

Welcome to QRLayer! Unlike standard QR codes that link to a single URL, our multi-layered QR codes allow you to set multiple URLs with custom layers (e.g., date-based activation). Perfect for events, marketing campaigns, or personal projects. Let’s dive into how it works!

What Are Multi-Layered QRs?

Standard QR: A single QR code links to one URL like your website. Scan it, and you’re taken there—static and simple.

Multi-Layered QR: QR code can hold multiple URLs, each with rules (“active from March 10, to March 20”). When scanned, it checks the current date and redirects to the active URLs. This makes your QR adaptable without creating new codes!

Example: A restaurant QR could link to a lunch menu on weekdays and a dinner menu on weekends, all from one code.

How to Create a Multi-Layered QR with QRLayer

  1. Visit Create QR Page: Go to Create QR. No login is needed to start—try it out!
  2. Name Your QR: Enter a name (“Event QR”) to identify it later.
  3. Add Layers: Click "Add Another Layer" (one for each URL).
    • URL: Enter the destination link, example: (https://QRLayer.com).
    • Date Active: Set date for URL to become active, defaults to today.
    • No Expiration: URL is active indefinitely. Deselect checkbox to set an inactive date.
      • Inactive Date: Optional—set when URL expires (March 20).
    • Icon: Choose a default icon (custom icons require login).
  4. Generate and Download: Click “Generate QR Code” to create your multi-layered QR. Download the QR image to use anywhere (print or share it).
  5. Scan and Use: Place the Multi-Layered QR code (or standard QR code) in a desired location (example: restaurant table) in a high traffic area. When a consumer scans the QR code, they are presented with multiple active links based on date and layer rules.
